The ISR group belongs to the ADETTI-IUL – Advanced IS&IT Research Center.
It conducts research in the Information Systems area.
Our aim is to contribute to the development of the Information and Knowledge Society.
The approach followed by the ISR group, to generate knowledge and innovation in the Information Systems domain, considers the Organizations and the Society needs as the key drivers for Research and Education initiatives.
Due to the transversal and applied nature of information systems our research projects integrate knowledge from a broad set of complementary areas.
- Organizations and Society – Business architectures, industry sector IS/IT applications (public administration, finances and banking, health, tourism); Social networks; Electronic markets; Information studies; The impact of technology in organizations and Society .
- Business processes – IS/IT governance (ITIL, COBIT), decision support, performance management (BSC), information management, document management, change management, benefits management, project management (PMBoK), business continuity, information systems auditing.
- Technology development – software factory, software development platforms; technological architectures, integration and interoperability; Web technologies; Cloud Computing; Storage Management.
- Methodology Foundations – Agile and structured methods; Information systems architecture and engineering; Visual modelling, UML; requirements management, software quality (CMMI)
The link between Research and Education implies a strong involvement in Education and Training programs at ISCTE-IUL, with production of PhD Thesis and MSc dissertations – MGSI, MIG, MSIAD, MCCTI, MEI.
The bridge Research to the Organizations and Society is justified by:
- The need to find innovative answers to complex problems;
- The concern to achieve results and to demonstrate the benefits of the research;
- The need to compensate the assistance of the public and the private sponsors;
The group is mainly composed by researchers of ISCTE-IUL and also includes researchers from other Portuguese universities.
